Mr. Sam Kohl, former director and founder has been involved in the sector since 1949, when he opened his first pet shop. He is known throughout the industry as the author of the “Bible”- The All Breed Dog Grooming Guide, which is used by groomers throughout the world.

May of 2000, upon Mr. Kohl’s retirement from the dog grooming school he passed the New York School of Dog Grooming torch to its manager and star pupil, Mary Iucopilla. Ms. Iucopilla left her job as a social worker to become a student at the New York School of Dog Grooming in 1987. She worked as a groomer, classroom assistant, instructor, and eventually manager.

She now uses her expertise to ensure that the students acquire the highest technical and academic knowledge necessary to qualify them to function productively. Today, the school is under her supervision with her extensive experience allowing her to be involved in the management of the New York School of Dog Grooming.
